Where the Time Goes..
I’ve been single for a couple of years now, and that has led me to make an observation about money.
It seems that whenever I was in a relationship, I would spend less time in front of a computer. That sounds great, but that’s my source of income. The less time I spend on the computer, the less money I will make.
Additionally, as if making less money is bad enough, I noticed that I would spend more money while in a relationship. When I’m single, I spend less time spending money (on a girlfriend) and more time making money (on the computer).
This may be an effect that other people can relate to, so I figured I would illustrate it on a Crappy Graph:

Feedback via Twitter:
@brianshaler Quite right - I have two partners and now spend double the amount of money I once did.

@brianshaler true of the boyfriend route too though
very nice

@brianshaler: shh! Don’t be spreading this! My boyfriend might like making more money and having more time on the computer!

@brianshaler no… i spend much more while single
— tiny_ian
Brianshaler: actually not. I spend more money everyday. Obviously you don’t have a girlfriend.

i love that “on computer” and “with girlfriend” do not intersect at all.

Nice use of red to illustrate warning/danger areas

I suppose that may depend on gender (assuming, of course, that the computer is the source of revenue generation is constant regardless of gender). I find that time spent on the computer does decline when I am not single, but so does the amount of money I spend…even as time spent spending (someone’s) increases. And this equation is not affected by a desire to be a kept woman (I am very inclined not only to have equal share in picking up the tab, but also to splurge on indulgences for a significant other), but is the result of having had relationships (& friendships) with men who would prefer to spend their money than to have me spend mine.

Hey men,
you take the things in the wrong side.
I was like you, a poor lony boy.
And so i turn my mind.
Here i am now, with more than 2 girls a week, and you know what ?
I have more money men !
they make me eat, they keep me from spending my money on drinks and so on…
So if you want to be rich, take a wife (or more).
But do not f***ing ever be her slave, take it in the right side !

Very accurate; painfully true.

So Oulala..
sounds like you dating little versions of your mommy…

The question has now become “would you rather be rich or in love?”
Preferably we all want both… strangely enough I would chose “love” whereas my ex chose (almost obsessively) the answer “rich.” And hence, the EX part.

You need to change the one graph(if you are gearing it to others as well) to “significant other” instead of girlfriends as we all don’t have girlfriends. But I noticed I too spend more time in front of comp when single then with S-other or mate. I will say though from prev being married that once married (in my opinion) that seems to change the flow as you don’t go out as much to support everything else. Keeping up with the Jones’ isn’t easy.
